Two terms we hear so much in the wellness industry- health and fitness. Do you ever wonder how these two terms correlate with one another? Sometimes I feel like the definitive line between health and fitness is a little blurry. This could be because these two things really go hand in hand, working together to contribute to your overall well-being. But they do have their own components that make them different.
Here’s what I say are the main things that define good health:
A Quality of life, meaning:
Being free of disease and/or pain
Having low stress levels
Longevity and improved aging
Feeling a sense of general happiness
When I think of benefits of fitness, things I immediately think of are:
Strengthened muscles + joints
Reducing your stress levels
Extends your endurance during physical activity
Improved cardiovascular health
Overall mental health boosts
Aids in lowering blood pressure
Better immune response
As you can see, making time for yourself to focus on your fitness is what can drive you towards feelings of physical and mental health. Several years ago I decided to do just that and it has changed every aspect of my life for the better. I feel like I can better handle the stress of the life I’ve built with the people I love and everything that comes with being a mom and a business owner. Even better, is that I’ve made it possible for myself to do all these things from the comfort of my own home and shared it with a few friends and family.
I’ve become a certified personal trainer and want to share the gift of fitness with anyone who’s ready or has been looking for a way to take charge of their own fitness without having the time to get to the gym. The routines of MP Workouts can be done with little to no equipment as well so you don’t have to break the bank to exercise at home either. You can read more about the history of MP Workouts on the Meet Megan page.
When we place an emphasis on invigorating and realistic exercise routines that are focused on our fitness, we are directly improving our overall health. Health has so much more to do with just the physiological aspects of life. When we allow our fitness routines to be about more than just our physical appearance, we are able to connect with our mental and emotional health as well. Movement truly is a form of medicine and can heal us from the inside out. Let’s start viewing our fitness routine as more than just a way to achieve physical changes. It has the power to change our whole entire lives with improved overall, well rounded health.
